Why we as a company are publicly calling for participation in elections

The European elections will take place from 6–9 June 2024. This year, we have decided to use our portal and our outreach to share the European Parliament’s call to participate in the elections and use your vote. We at meinestadt.de want to promote democratic cooperation – in our company, on our portal and in our society in general. All of us – whether individual citizens or entire organisations such as companies – contribute to the success of democracy. The strongest and easiest way to participate in democracy is to vote. With this campaign, we want to encourage people to do just that.

Here you can find out why our management team decided to do so:

“We were very touched by the video from the European Parliament. The stories of the people we get to know there are powerful and moving. They give us a moment to reflect and they remind us that democracy cannot be taken for granted, but rather is a precious asset that we must nurture every day.

In a world often characterised by unrest and uncertainty, the European Union offers each of us a home of diversity, peace and stability. We can move freely, without borders, in an area that gives us security and freedom. These privileges are the result of years of joint efforts and compromises – and they are worth standing up for.

Many of us are parents. We want a world in which our children and grandchildren can grow up in freedom and security. We are actively shaping this future with our vote in the European elections on June 9. Each and every one of us has the opportunity to stand up for a Europe that is socially just, economically stable and culturally diverse.

Yes, we are only a small part of a larger picture. But that is exactly what democracy is about: every vote counts. Every single decision contributes to shaping our common future. That is why we are calling on everyone to take this opportunity to vote, to help make decisions and thus strengthen our democracy.

Ultimately, a democratic understanding also reflects our corporate values. We want to stand up for what is important to us internally – i.e. team spirit, determination and a commitment to respectful coexistence – externally as well.

On June 9, we have the power to make a difference. Use your voice, be determined – together we can shape a strong, united Europe.”
